Crime Patrol was a prototype created from the Sega CD original. An initial attempt for the 3DO was made and later canceled. This was likely the precursor of the Saturn attempt. Despite the efforts, flagging FMV sales and American Laser Games own financial troubles doomed this release.

Interestingly, the title was far enough along in planning that Sega released a product number, something often missing from unreleased prototypes.
